Samvedna aspires to help the Differently Abled lead a life of purpose and dignity. Samvedna activities focus on early detection, intervention, care, capacity building, federation, advocacy, training, employment and empowerment of the differently abled.

Samvedna’s mission is to walk alongside the differently abled respecting their individuality, their abilities and aspirations and ensuring equal opportunity, justice and a productive, fulfilling and happy life.

Samvedna, started as a pilot program in March 2004 in Rudraprayag district on the invitation of Local NGO, ‘Grahmin Samudayak Vikas Sewa Sansthan’. From the very beginning the emphasis of Samvedna has been to serve in remote mountain areas of Uttarakhand and other vulnerable communities. The strategy was very simple:

  • Early detection through regular disability focused fedical camps in remote areas focusing on the Differently Abled.
  • Interventions, Follow-up and treatment.
  • Helping sensitize and build capacity of local volunteers and NGOs for the disability sector.
  • Building up of a team of committed professionals.
  • Developing Community Based Rehabilitation models.
  • Project delivery through strategic and  synergistic alliances
